Some cars are famous. Ours is a movie star. Tucked inside our open warehouse on the Gold Coast sits the black beast that fans cross oceans to photograph: our tribute to the Mad Max Interceptor, the most recognisable Australian car ever to hit the silver screen.
Built on a Ford XB Falcon Coupe, our Interceptor carries everything the legend demands. Under the bonnet is a 351 Cleveland V8 topped with a belt-driven supercharger — the menacing blower that punches up through the hood and made a generation of moviegoers fall in love with the roar of Australian muscle. The body wears the full movie-spec kit: the front spoiler, the side pipes, the unmistakable silhouette that says one thing before you read a single badge — do not mess with this car.
More Than a Movie Prop
What makes the Interceptor special isn't just the film. It's what the car represents. In the 1970s, Australia was building some of the toughest, best-looking performance cars in the world, and the Interceptor took that raw local engineering and made it a global icon. When you stand next to it, you're not just looking at a prop. You're looking at the spirit of an entire era of Aussie horsepower, frozen in chrome and black paint.
Mad Max fans tell us the same thing every week, and they're right. It's the centrepiece of a collection of more than 20 vehicles — Monaros, GTs, Toranas and Chargers kept in running condition — and for many visitors, the Interceptor is the reason they came in the first place.
